General Information:

Ready Set Trot is a junior participation program for children with an interest in horses but don’t have one of their own. Ready Set Trot aims to introduce young people to horses and provide them with a better understanding of horsemanship in a fun and exciting way – regardless if they have access to a horse or not. Ready Set Trot will teach the fundamentals of horsemanship, introduce young people to the many various areas of the horse industry and aims to instil in them a lifelong passion for horses.

Ready Set Trot- Stable Skills – introduces children to the fundamentals of horsemanship and the basic elements of horse riding. The program is delivered by a local NCAS accredited coach or delivery centre. Sessions provide participants with the opportunity to learn about basic horse welfare and the fundamentals of horse riding. Ready Set Trot - Stable Skills is the perfect opportunity for horse mad kids to get involved in the horse world.

Ready Set Trot NCAs accredited coaches and delivery centres are accredited by EA, PCA or RDA to deliver the Ready Set Trot programs.

The two hours is spent partly on the ground with the horses, partly in the hut learning about the weekly topic then finally the children all mount up and go for a trail or arena lesson where they will be coached along the way. This is a great introduction for children as it not only covers the basics in riding, but also provides them with essential skills to handle horses safely on the ground. It also teaches the children the responsibilities involved in owning your own horse or pony and of course it’s always really FUN!

Your child will be part of a small group but rest assured, they will be watched closely and coached individually. We want to see your child’s riding progress each week.

Port Macquarie Horse Riding Centre  aims to provide a safe, friendly, professional and welcoming environment for all. We generally buddy up a complete beginner with another child who may have a little more riding experience. The friendships are quick to form and last a lifetime. Your child will no doubt find themselves a favourite horse to spoil at the centre and dream about at night.
